Back-to-School … The Forecast is Good
A Welcome Message from the Orange County Council PTA President
As we step into the 2026–2027 school year, I want to take a moment to welcome each and every one of you – our dedicated PTA leaders, members, and volunteers – to what I know will be a remarkable year ahead.
It is entirely natural to feel a blend of excitement and nerves this time of year – whether you are a student stepping into a new classroom for the first time, a parent watching your child take another leap forward, or an educator who has spent the summer preparing for the year ahead. Whatever you are feeling, know this: we are in this together.
Let us begin where every great team does: together. I encourage every local unit to kick off the year with a board retreat. Get to know one another, share a laugh, play a game, and build the kind of trust that carries a team through the long haul. You will be side by side for an entire school year – investing in those relationships early makes all the difference. Have fun with it, and hold each other accountable from day one.
A Year of Leadership and Growth
Here at the Orange County Council PTA, we are committed to setting our local units up for success. That means staying in compliance, building strong and respectful relationships with our school administrators, and keeping our communication channels open, active, and meaningful. We will be here to celebrate your wins, cheer you through the challenges, and remind you that you are never navigating this work alone.
Your Kit of Materials from Florida PTA is on its way. When it arrives, read it, follow it, and let it guide your decisions with confidence and integrity. Strong PTAs are built on strong foundations, and this is yours.
Recognize, Advocate, and Amplify
As the year unfolds, please remember to show appreciation – to your board members, your volunteers, and every staff member who shows up for our students each day. When award season arrives, apply! Nominate those who deserve recognition. Our people are doing extraordinary work, and it deserves to be celebrated.
And speaking of amplifying our voices – sound the alarm, because we are going to the State Capitol! Begin gathering your students, parents, and teachers now. Our trip to Tallahassee is one of the most powerful things we do as a PTA community, and we want you there with us. Let us remind decision-makers at every level that the Orange County Council PTA is a unified, passionate voice for every child and every family in our community.
We advocate for student safety, mental health, and the essential resources our schools need to thrive. We stand together on issues of school funding, teacher support, and ensuring that no family – not one – navigates this journey alone. Our collective voices matter, and now more than ever, they need to be heard.
