Membership Has Its Privileges
Think about your BJ’s, Sam’s Club, or Costco membership. What do they all have in common? Each one requires a membership fee – and the value you receive is exclusively reserved for cardholders. In fact, you can’t even walk through the doors of Costco without flashing that membership card first. Our PTA/PTSA works the same way.
Membership is our lifeblood. It is woven into the very history of our organization. With your membership comes access to leadership training, grants, impactful programs, and award celebrations that recognize the incredible work happening in our schools. And here’s a benefit that often goes unnoticed: as part of the Florida PTA IRS group exemption, your local unit does not have to pay to maintain 501(c)(3) status – Florida PTA handles that for us. That alone is a tremendous value.
Celebrating Membership Month
September is Membership Month, and we are pausing to celebrate YOU. Collectively, our local units have already enrolled over 10,567 members – thank you for paying your dues and investing in your school communities! However, payments for only about 2891 members have been paid over to the State. We understand – budgets are still being approved, and things are coming together for your Board. We appreciate your efforts, but must remind you to submit your payments monthly. Don’t hesitate to reach out to us if you need assistance. We are here to help.
Sell Your Brand – Grow Your Membership
To help you promote membership and grow your local unit, we invite you to visit our website and take advantage of the resources available to you. Be ready to tell people your “why” they should join your PTA/PTSA, and have your Givebacks link ready to share. Every conversation is an opportunity to welcome a new member, recruit a volunteer leader, or inspire a passionate advocate who will help us fulfill our mission: “To make every child’s potential a reality by empowering and advocating for all children.”
A Year Planned with You in Mind
Let’s make this a year of meaningful connection, stronger leadership, and greater impact – because “Together We Lead. Together We Grow.” We have an exciting year ahead – “Acceleration Training” “Presidents’ & Principals’ Breakfast” “Reflections” “Teen Leadership Academy” “Rally in Tally” and much more for us to learn and celebrate together! We planned this year with “you” in mind so we look forward to engaging with you. Please make plans to join us.
Happy PTA Membership Month!
Challenge: “Let us know how you will celebrate and engage with your members.” Share photos #occptamemberships.
