Let’s Fill our Bus! Space is Limited!
The date is set and the site secured for PTA members and the community to let their voices be heard once again in Tallahassee. You were loud and clear last year with your rallying cry of “NO MORE CUTS.” You made a difference-the proposed cuts were restored.
This year your task is to not only persuade legislators restore the previous cuts, but to make provisions for an adequate, stable source of funding for education when the stimulus dollars run out in 2010.
The Florida PTA will provide an orientation and advocacy training on March 24th from 3:30-6:30 pm the day before the Rally. Bus captains will provide training for participants who travel up on the day of the rally.
Tentative Plans
- Buses begin Boarding @ 5:30 am at OCPS ELC Center located at 445 W. Amelia Street in downtown Orlando.
- Buses depart Orlando @ 6:00 am promptly.
- Buses arrive @ 10:30 am in Tallahassee at Waller Park outside the Capitol Building
- Rally from 11:30-1:30 pm
- Legislative visits, Committee Hearings, and Capitol Tour from 1:30-5:00 pm (coordinated by OCCPTA)
- Orange County representatives meeting with OCCPTA members 2:30pm in House Office Building room 28. Download invitation flyer.
- Buses depart Tallahassee @ 5:00 pm
- Buses arrive in Orlando @ 10:00 pm.
The cost is only $40.00 and covers the round trip, tip for driver and snacks. Participants are on your own for lunch (OCCPTA will provide a map on various restaurants near the Capital) and buses will stop on the way home for dinner. To reserve your seat, please complete the registration form and return to Orange County Council PTAs, c/o Carrie Sultan, 445 W. Amelia Street 9th Floor, Orlando, FL 32801 before March 19, 2010.
*** If you do not attend, your $40 will not be refunded but you can send a replacement or consider the amount a donation to Orange County Council PTA Rally in Tally.
