Your PTA & PTSA is invited to join the Orange County Council of PTA & PTSA in participation in the National PTA Reflections 2013 -2014 Program.
The Reflections program encourages children to express themselves artistically based on a common theme. This year’s theme is “Believe, Dream, Inspire”.
Participation in the PTA Reflections Program can help your PTA & PTSA increase student achievement, foster student talents, promote the arts, and increase parent involvement in your school and PTA.
There are 5 competitive Divisions:
- Primary Division Pre-K – 2nd Grade
- Intermediate Division 3rd Grade – 5th Grade
- Middle Division 6rh Grade – 8th Grade
- High School Division 9th Grade – 12th Grade
- Special Artist Division Ungraded for children of all ages with disabilities
Within each Division, there are 6 art categories:
- Visual Arts
- Dance Choreography
- Musical Composition
- Film Production
Your PTA & PTSA can summit 3 entries per art category per competitive division to OCCPTA.
Your PTA Unit’s winning entries are due to the Orange County Council of PTA on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 by 5:00 PM, Ronald Blocker Educational Learning Center, 445 W. Amelia Street Orlando, FL 32801.

We recommend you set the entry due date for your students 2 – 4 weeks prior to the OCCPTA Reflections Entry Due Date to allow your PTA time to process your students’ entries, judge the submissions, and deliver the winning entries to OCCPTA prior to the deadline.
You are encouraged to recognize and celebrate each student who participates in your PTA Unit’s Reflections Program.
Now is the time to plan your Reflections participation and to partner with your school to promote student participation in Reflections.

2013 – 2014 OCCPTA Slate of Officers
The OCCPTA Nominating Committee, chaired by Twanna Scroggins, recommends the following 2013-2014 OCCPTA Slate of Officers:
1st Vice President……..Andrea Michalak
2nd Vice President……..Valerie Radcliffe
3rd Vice President……..Nicole Bell
The elections will be held at 7:45 pm, on April 30, 2013, at the ELC – 445 W. Amelia St, Orlando, FL.
Please note the following process for running from the floor, as outlined in our Standing Rules:
Elections – Nominations from the floor will be handled in the following manner:
• A minimum of 15 days notice will be given prior to date of election meeting.
• Written notification will be sent to the President at firstname.lastname@example.org.
• Written notification must include: name, current local unit affiliation, current PTA position(s) held, and previous PTA position(s) held.
• You must be a member of a local unit PTA/PTSA who is In Good Standings.
• You must already be ADDitions approved.
• You must be present at the April 30th General Membership meeting.
If you wish to run from the floor, please provide written notification as outlined above to:email@example.com.
Notification must be received by 12:00 pm, April 15, 2013. The President will acknowledge receipt of your notification via return email, and subsequent information regarding the process will be provided.
During the upcoming Orange County Council of PTA General Meeting (to be held on January 28, 2013, at 7:00 pm, at the ELC) together we will elect the Nominating Committee to present the membership with a Slate of Officers for the 2013 – 2014 OCCPTA year. You are encouraged to consider submitting your name for an Executive Committee position.
The Orange County Council of PTA’s Executive Committee includes the President, 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President of Programs, 3rd Vice President of Membership, Treasurer, and Secretary. Click 2013 OCCPTA Nomination Application to apply.
ALL OCCPTA Executive Committee Nominees must be ADDitions approved prior to March 1, 2013, visit http://www.ocps.net/ for more information.
All applications are to be submitted to the OCCPTA Nominating Committee no later than Noon, Monday, February 18, 2013. Nominations from the floor need to be submitted by Noon, Sunday, March 31, 2013. Applications submitted after that date and time will not be accepted. Please email your applications to NomComm@OCCPTA.org.
