That’s right in order to be a local unit PTA/PTSA “in good standing” they must pay their OCCPTA dues by October 31^st?

Why is it important to be a local unit PTA/PTSA “in good standing?”

Local units PTAs/PTSAs “in good standings” have opportunities available to them such as:

• being able to participate in National PTA’s Reflections – more information is available at www.pta.org;
• eligible for awards with Orange County Council of PTA, Florida PTA, and National PTA;
• graduating seniors of a high school PTSA may apply for scholarships with Orange County Council of PTA and Florida PTA;
• FREE trainings with Orange County Council of PTA;
• onsite support from Orange County Council of PTA when requested;
• networking with other local unit PTAs/PTSAs;
• NEVER being alone – Orange County Council of PTA is a phone call or email away;
• and SO MUCH MORE.

How much are OCCPTA dues? $50 gets each local unit PTA/PTSA “in good standing” everything mentioned above and more.

Orange County Council of PTA’s Bylaws

ARTICLE V: MEMBERS AND DUES

#Section 1. Membership in this council shall consist of local PTAs/PTSAs of the National/Florida PTA in Orange County upon payment of dues as hereinafter provided.

Section 2. The annual dues for membership in this council shall be $50.00 per year and payable by October 31 (Date) and shall be delinquent after said date. Local units with unpaid dues on November 1 (Date)* will not be in good standing with the county council. Any newly organized PTA/PTSA may be exempt from paying dues for the remainder of the current membership year at the discretion of the executive board.

Section 3. Delegates from local PTAs/PTSAs whose dues to the council are in arrears shall not participate in business meetings of the council.

Section 4. Local PTAs/PTSAs may be reinstated at any time by bringing their dues current. Reinstated PTAs/PTSAs may participate and vote thirty (30) days after reinstatement.

Local Unit Bylaws

ARTICLE XII: COUNCIL MEMBERSHIP

Section 1.a. The association shall be represented in meetings of the Orange County Council Parent Teacher Association, as provided in the council’s bylaws.

b. Delegates and their alternates shall be selected and serve for a term of _________________________ to the Orange County Council of PTAs.

Section 2. This association shall pay annual dues to the Orange County Council of PTAs, as provided in the council’s bylaws.

Must have the ability to operate a copy machine and perform light filing.  Light typing would be an added benefit.

Working hours would be between 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm, but we ask that you try to work at least one hour.

Community service hours will be awarded for any and all assistance.

Please make checks payable to OCCPTA.  All checks from local unit PTA must have 2 signatures or they will not be accepted for payment.

 Unit dues are to be paid prior to November 1, 2012.  After that point the unit will not be in good standing.  OCCPTA kindly asks that every local unit PTA consider making a donation to the Scholarship Fund as the unit funds allow.
